Our marketing technology startup crushes

TSP Weekly is an amazing podcast in Kitchener/Waterloo that talks to a different startup founder every week. Their questions range from brilliantly insightful, to downright absurd. One of my favourite standard asks is, “What’s your startup crush?”

There’s such a tight community of startups here; we all know someone who’s working on a project we admire.

As a marketing tech company, it doesn’t pain me to say that we shouldn’t be the only piece of tech that our customers use. Just as developers choose a tech stack when building a website, marketers must also choose a stack that covers everything from content generation, to project management, to analytics.

If there’s a piece missing in your technology stack, or if you just want to see some awesome projects, here’s our list of startup crushes:

1. Uberflip

Why you should care: Uberflip allows you to automate the curation of content for specific groups of your audience. You have the ability to serve the right content to the right people when they’re looking for it! Uberflip also measures performance and behavioural data, so you get enhanced analytics on what pieces of content are engaging and nurturing your leads.

Why we love them: We believe Uberflip does an amazing job of showcasing content. And when you write in Wriber, you can export directly to their platform! Tech that helps optimize and measure the ROI of your content ensures that you can justify your inbound marketing budget.

2. FunnelCake

Why you should care: FunnelCake tackles the seemingly impossible task of campaign attribution, and provides insight into your buyer journeys. They give you a new look into your funnel, removing some of the attribution confusion that can come with multi-channel campaigns. You might say that they allow you to have your cake, and eat it too!

Why we love them: Aside from allowing us to talk about pastry all the time, we love that FunnelCake doesn’t shy away from a challenge, distilling big data sets into bite-sized insights. (I’m sorry, I can’t stop with the puns!) Also, Marko and his team are huge believers in giving back to their community; we admire their support for local groups like The Working Centre.

3. SweetTooth

Why you should care: SweetTooth helps online e-commerce stores create effective loyalty programs. They’re giving power to small and medium-sized businesses, allowing them to create programs that you’d typically associate with enterprises like Air Canada. And they use data to inform all of their decisions.

Why we love them: They’re another reason to talk about snacks! Also, they believe in content marketing and are so generous with their knowledge and resources. If your business relies on repeat purchases, we highly recommend that you check out their blog.

4. Vidyardvbot-4403f0b8

Why you should care: To be honest, I debated even calling Vidyard a startup. They’re a force to be reckoned with for two simple reasons. 1) Video should be part of any marketing strategy, and 2) data = power. Vidyard provides an incredible amount of insight into your audience, and allows you to use CTAs and lead capture forms in your video.

Why we love them: They’ve built their product on the value of video and data, and their marketing strategy and successes are living proof that it works. Plus, how can you not love this guy?
